Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself with be exalted.
Jesus’ attitude was one of humility. Mary’s disposition was the same. She was humble in heart. Mary is the one who truly humbled herself when she accepted the will of God. Her ‘Yes’ to God was the prayer of a humble servant. Her witness scatters the proud of heart revealing that God humbles the proud but exalts the humble. We encounter her humility in her prayer the Magnificat. Her soul rejoiced in her Lord, her spirit rejoiced in her Saviour and raised her up. We exalt her, we thank her, we seek her intercession. We strive to imitate her humble attitude and her devotion to the Lord.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left. (St Patrick)
