Grant, O Lord, that we may begin with holy fasting... (Collect)

Come back to me with all your heart.
Lent is a special time in the Church’s year. It is a period of spiritual training and an opportunity to grow closer to God. Through prayer, fasting and almsgiving we prepare ourselves to better celebrate Easter and experience God’s grace and power in our lives. We are especially focused this Lent on exploring the grace we receive at baptism. On Holy Saturday we will renew our baptismal promises and give praise to God who: ‘dispels wickedness, washes faults away, restores innocence to the fallen, and joy to mourners, drives out hatred, fosters concord and brings down the mighty.’ (Exsultet).
Lord, help me in my desire to enter this holy season with a new resolve to find time to pray, to give myself to fasting and to give generously to others in need.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen Ten Hail Marys …, Glory Be...
