Hope in him, hold him and take heart (Ps 26:14).
Isaiah 29:24
Erring spirits will learn wisdom and murmurers accept instruction.
Rudyard Kipling famously wrote: ‘To err is human, to forgive divine’. Indeed, we are all familiar with the human tendency to err. However it is when we forgive that we come in touch with the divine. Forgiveness is about letting go of resentment and having the grace to say ‘I am sorry’. We come in touch directly and personally with God’s forgiveness when we receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Our store of memories includes these moments of grace, forgiveness, acceptance and healing. They prepare us to acknowledge our failings, and to seek again the forgiveness and mercy so generously available to us in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Lord help me to remember these words: ‘Though your sins be like scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow’ (Isaiah 1:18).
