Blessed John Henry Newman is an outstanding witness. With the light of prophetic insight, this nineteenth-century churchman, still speaks clearly to our world today. His teachings and ideas speak to us at a deep and profound level, heart unto heart, as it were. May he continue to inspire us to take up the calling we received in baptism. May his teaching on conscience, on prayer, on holiness and on the truth of the gospel give us great encouragement and guidance in living our faith today. Blessed John Henry once said, ‘In a higher world it is otherwise but here below to live is to change and to be perfect is to have changed often.’ We commit ourselves to growing daily in maturity and holiness, always in obedience to God’s will.
Lord, as we prepare to enter Holy Week, grant me the grace to strive to be holy as you are holy.
