Christmas in Prison
It might be the happiest, most family-filled day of the year for most of Britain’s population – but for the 84,000 people who will spend it behind bars, Christmas will instead be an achingly painful twenty-four hours in which the punishment of being in prison was never more keenly felt.
Hope and Redemption - Prison's Grace
We receive many letters and much feedback from prisoners and their chaplains about how Bible Alive is a great source of encouragement and hope both to prisoners in serving their sentence and also to the prison chaplains who minister to them.
Among them we received the following remarkable and wonderful testimony from a prisoner who is currently serving his sentence in an English prison.

Prison Visiting on Christmas Day
On Christmas morning Archbishop Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Birmingham will set out to visit HMP Birmingham where he has for many years celebrated Mass and met with prisoners after the service.
Bible Alive met up with Archbishop Vincent to talk about the special ministry of the Christmas Day prison visit.
Prison
Jesus was a prisoner. So too was St John the Baptist, St Peter and St Paul. Jesus identified with prisoners, teaching that to visit one was to visit him (he did not make a distinction between whether they were guilty or not.
Prison Facts
Prisons Week (November 16 – November 22) has as its theme : Talented or Worthless? There is a view, prevalent in society at large, which holds to the view that a prisoner should be treated with contempt, locked away (and preferably with the key thrown away) and very much ‘out of sight, out of mind.’
This however is not the Christian view which always holds out the prospect of conversion, change and redemption. The truth is that there but for God’s grace we all go and we at Bible Alive uphold that every prisoner, just like every human being, is created in the image and likeness of God and has God given talents and abilities.
